Bakuchiol (1%)
The hero. Bakuchiol is a plant extract from the babchi plant with published research showing it reduces the appearance of fine lines and improves skin tone comparably to retinol — without retinol's irritation, peeling, or sun sensitivity. Safe for sensitive skin, safe in pregnancy, and effective year-round. This is why I chose it over retinol.
Cloudberry Seed Oil
Cloudberry grows in the Arctic and produces one of the most antioxidant dense seed oils in nature - exceptionally rich in vitamin C and essential fatty acids. It neutralizes environmental stressors, supports a healthy skin barrier, and gives the serum its glow-enhancing quality.
Squalane
A biomimetic hydrator — meaning it closely resembles your skin's own natural oils. Squalane absorbs quickly, doesn't clog pores, and reinforces your moisture barrier without heaviness. Every skin type tolerates it. It's the reason this serum feels like skin, not oil.
CoQ10 (Ubiquinone)
Coenzyme Q10 is an antioxidant your skin produces naturally — and produces less of as you age. Topical CoQ10 supports skin's energy metabolism, helps defend against free radical damage, and supports visible elasticity. For perimenopausal skin especially, this is one of the most underrated ingredients in skincare.
Vitamin E (Tocopheryl Acetate)
A foundational skin antioxidant that works synergistically with the other ingredients in this formula. Vitamin E protects against oxidative stress, supports barrier repair, and keeps skin soft. It also acts as a natural preservative, helping protect the integrity of the formula.
Cocoyl Hydrolyzed Quinoa, Rice & Amaranth Proteins
A plant-protein trio derived from some of the most nutrient-dense botanicals available. These proteins condition the skin surface, enhance smoothness, improve moisture retention, and give the serum its silky, skin-like finish. They're why Essential Glow absorbs the way it does.
